| There is no set time for these service but patients are monitored and screened when ever they are seen. Regular follow up appointments are offered. |
You could see one of the GPs or our practice nurse for contraceptive advice. You can obtain the contraceptive pill, morning after pill, depot injections given every 3 months or have a coil fitted. You could discuss and obtain advice as to the best that will suit you.

our doctors will contact you.
You can also check your pharmacist, ABACUS or the out of hours service

We provide complete ante natal care, shared with hospitals. The midwife arrange regular check ups in the ante natal clinic, and a GP is always available for advice. We do not provide cover for home deliveries but you could arrange with the midwife if you wish to have a home delivery.

All childhood vaccinations are provided by the practice. This is usually
given by our health visitor in the childhood health clinic. Our practice
nurse and the GPs are also available to provide these vaccines. We strongly
recommend all children to have the full course of vaccines. The new
meningitis vaccine is also available on request. Hepatitis vaccines
are available for those working in certain jobs. Influenza vaccines
are normally given to those group of patients at greater risk. The programme
usually starts in October/November of every year. Pneumococcal vaccines
are offered to certain group of patients at risk of suffering this particular
type of pneumonia. For advice on any of the above see one of the GPs
or Practice Nurse.

All females between the age 20 - 65 years are invited to have this important
screening test. You will normally be called once every 5 years to
have a smear done. It is advisable to have one every 3 years. Our
practice nurse will be happy to fit you in at a time suitable for
you to attend. Make an appointment to see the nurse about two weeks
before your next period.

Practical advice and screening on how to avoid heart disease. Blood pressure and cholesterol
checks are done in clinic on Friday mornings. As has been discussed many times in medical circles
raised cholesterol does increase the chances of Heart disease. We follow the British Heart Foundation guidelines, which are summarized below:

Our counselor who provides counseling and cognitive therapy is available on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-1:00. You will have to initially see one of the GPs who will decide whether you will benefit from counseling and will refer you on.

If you are traveling abroad, you could see one of our GPs or Nurses who will advise on most aspects of travel, including your vaccination requirements. Travel vaccines are available . You may have to pay a fee for this service. Check with the receptionist/nurse who will advise.
